三、正式表达：in order to ​

语气 比 to 正式一点

结构 ​

in order to + verb

例句 ​

否定 ​

in order not to

例：

四、较书面表达：so as to ​

结构

so as to + verb

例句

She whispered so as to avoid attention

口语中 很少用。

五、for + 名词（表示用途） ​

很多中国人容易混淆 to 和 for

结构 ​

for + 名词

例：

I went to the store for milk

我去商店买牛奶。

This knife is for bread

这个刀是用来切面包的。

六、for + doing ​

表示 用途

结构 ​

for + verb ing

例：

This tool is for cutting wood

这个工具是用来切木头的。

A pen is for writing

笔是用来写字的。

七、完整句表达：so that ​

有时候目的 必须是一个完整句子

结构 ​

so that + 主语 + can / will

例：

I speak loudly so that everyone can hear me

我大声说话为了让大家听见。

She wrote it down so that she wouldn’t forget

她写下来以免忘记。

八、最高级表达：in order that ​

更正式。

结构 ​

in order that + 句子

例：

We left early in order that we could arrive on time
