A. adjective + of
afraid / scared / frightened / terrified OF ...
表示害怕…… / 对……感到恐惧：
afraid of ...scared of ...frightened of ...terrified of ...
Example:
- ‘Are you afraid of spiders?’ ‘Yes, I’m terrified of them.’
fond / proud / ashamed / jealous / envious OF ...
常见搭配：
fond of ... — 喜欢…… proud of ... — 为……感到骄傲 ashamed of ... — 为……感到羞愧 jealous of ... — 嫉妒…… envious of ... — 羡慕 / 嫉妒……
Example:
- Why is he so jealous of other people?
suspicious / critical / tolerant OF ...
常见搭配：
suspicious of ... — 怀疑…… critical of ... — 批评…… / 对……持批评态度 tolerant of ... — 容忍……
Example:
- They didn’t trust me. They were suspicious of my motives.
aware / conscious OF ...
表示意识到 / 知道……：
aware of ...conscious of ...
Example:
- ‘Did you know he was married?’ ‘No, I wasn’t aware of that.’
capable / incapable OF ...
表示有能力 / 没有能力做……：
capable of ...incapable of ...
后面如果接动词，要使用：
capable of + -ing
Example:
- I’m sure you are capable of doing the job well.
full / short OF ...
full of ... — 充满…… short of ... — 缺少……
Examples:
- Amy is a very active person. She’s always full of energy.
- I’m a bit short of money. Can you lend me some?
typical OF ...
表示：
typical of somebody 是某人的典型行为 / 某人一贯如此
Example:
- He’s late again. It’s typical of him to keep everybody waiting.
常见结构：
It’s typical of somebody to do something.
certain / sure OF or ABOUT ...
certain of ...certain about ...sure of ...sure about ...
Example:
- I think she’s arriving this evening, but I’m not sure of that. or ... not sure about that.
B. adjective + at / to / from / in / on / with / for
1. good / bad / brilliant / better / hopeless etc. AT ...
描述某人擅长 / 不擅长某件事情：
good at ...bad at ...brilliant at ...better at ...hopeless at ...
Example:
- I’m not very good at repairing things. (not
good in repairing things)
如果后面是动词：
adjective + at + -ing
例如：
I’m good at cooking.
She’s bad at remembering names.
2. married / engaged TO ...
表示和某人结婚 / 订婚：
married to somebodyengaged to somebody
Example:
- Louise is married to an American. (not
married with)
但是：
- Louise is married with three children. (= she is married and has three children)
这里：
married to somebody = 和某人结婚
而：
married with three children = 已婚，并且有三个孩子
3. similar TO ...
表示：
similar to ... 和……相似
Example:
- Your handwriting is similar to mine.
4. different FROM or different TO ...
表示：
different from ...
或者：
different to ...
Example:
- The film was different from what I’d expected. or ... different to what I’d expected.
similar 和 different 对比
similar TO something
和某物相似。
different FROM something
和某物不同。
例如：
This car is similar to mine.
这辆车和我的车很像。
This car is different from mine.
这辆车和我的车不同。
5. interested IN ...
表示：
interested in ... 对……感兴趣
Example:
- Are you interested in art?
如果后面接动词：
interested in + -ing
例如：
I’m interested in learning English.
我对学习英语感兴趣。
6. keen ON ...
表示：
keen on ... 喜欢…… / 热衷于……
Example:
- We stayed at home. Chris wasn’t keen on going out.
结构：
keen on + noun
或者：
keen on + -ing
例如：
I’m keen on music.
I’m keen on travelling.
7. dependent ON ... / independent OF ...
dependent on ... — 依赖…… independent of ... — 独立于…… / 不依赖……
Example:
- I don’t want to be dependent on anybody.
对比：
He is dependent on his parents.
他依赖父母。
He is independent of his parents.
他不依赖父母。
8. crowded WITH ...
表示：
crowded with people/things 挤满……
Example:
- The streets were crowded with tourists. (but ... full of tourists)
注意两个常见搭配：
crowded with
full of
例如：
The park is crowded with people.
公园里挤满了人。
The park is full of people.
公园里到处都是人。
9. famous FOR ...
表示：
famous for ... 因……而著名
Example:
- The Italian city of Florence is famous for its art treasures.
常见结构：
be famous for + noun
例如：
Shanghai is famous for its skyline.
10. responsible FOR ...
表示：
responsible for ... 对……负责 / 是……的责任人
Example:
- Who was responsible for all that noise last night?
如果后面是动作：
responsible for + -ing
例如：
He is responsible for managing the project.
